However, among all these friends, today, I will talk about friend who you can share your joy and also sorrow with you.
It is called 동고동락(Dong-go-dong-rak) in four character idiom.
동 means one, 고 means sorrow, suffering, 락 means to enjoy.
Altogether, 동고동락 means to share one’s joy and sorrow together.
How many these kinds of friends do you have?

Sharing joy and also sorrow is not an easy things.
It’s because you have to feel like how they are.
To share feelings, you have to understand them.
If not, even there is a happy thing, you could feel jealousy, and envy them.
Moreover, sharing sorrow? You might not feel sympathy and bring cheer to them.
Saying with just a word can be easy but feeling with true mind is different.
Who can you think of? Not many?
Then, before you think of your friends, why don’t you think of you first?

Were you a 동고동락 friend to others?
If you can say for sure, that is where the problem comes from.
The first step of being 동고동락 friend is you being a 동고동락 friend.
If you start to give others the feeling of 동고동락 friends, they will treat you the same way.

Today, I’d like to talk about babytalk.
Little babies can not talk, so people use simple words so they can understand the conversation easily.
In old Koreans, the waste was used to call ‘찌(jji)’
That is why is called 귀지(geui-ji) , the last word 지 from 귀지, was originated from the old Korean ‘찌(jii-dirty)’
So when you see a child trying to eat or to pick up the dirty stuff, then you can say
“안되! 지지(ji-ji)!

Today we learnt simple babytalk in Korean.
Then as adults, why did we learn it?
We talk in a very simple and concise way when we talk with baby.
That is an action of consideration for others.
As we talk concisely for baby to understand easier, we could be able to communicate with more people if we consider the others more.
When I said ‘communication’, it doesn’t only refer in exchanging the information through speaking or writing.
Communication would connotate the meaning of understanding, sometimes to make both sides to understand the information or each other, it requires consideration.
As use easy words for baby, if we consider the others more when we talk, or don’t use certain offensive words in a way to consider the other’s culture, we can be friends with more people.
